Scientific oversight
Oversight of the programme covers the assessment framework, category requirements and consistency of decisions. Approval of rules and authority to sign a decision are separate from application coordination and sales responsibilities.
The decision signatory considers the completed independent reviews and records how differences were resolved. A separate publication check confirms that the certificate and public record accurately reflect the decision.
Expertise appropriate to the category
The assignment takes account of the product, evidence and intended use. A specialist question is assessed within the relevant field.

| Food supplements | Ingredient identity, dose, formulation, evidence appraisal and relevant safety information. |

| Clinical and infant nutrition | Clinical or paediatric nutrition and the relevant product, safety and market requirements. |
| Nutrition ingredients | Identity, specification, processing, applications and the evidence for the proposed use. |
Declaring interests
Reviewers declare relevant employment, consultancy, funding, ownership and relationships before taking an assignment. An independent person checks the declaration and records whether the assignment can proceed.
Working independently
Two reviewers examine the same defined entry and criteria version. They record their own findings and reasons before differences are considered.
Questions for an applicant pass through the coordinator and remain in the application record. A third independent review is required for a disagreement about a mandatory requirement, award eligibility or a total-score difference greater than 10 points.
Questions about an assignment
Use the concern form if you believe an interest or the handling of a review needs examination. Include the entry or award reference and the facts relevant to the concern.
