Nutrition Excellence Awards

Help with the awards

Answers to common questions about eligibility, evidence, decisions and award use.

Before you enter

Is there an entry fee?

No. Application, assessment, routine clarification and a procedural appeal are free. An award includes an electronic certificate and public register record without charge.

When can I enter?

Applications are accepted throughout the year. There is no annual closing date.

Do I need to send samples?

No. Assessment is based on the online application and supporting documents. Do not send physical samples.

Which products can enter?

The five categories are foods, beverages, food supplements, specialised nutrition and nutrition ingredients. Choose the category matching the assessed product and intended use.

Can specialist products and ingredients enter?

Yes. Specialist products need evidence relevant to their intended population and market. Ingredients need a defined identity, specification and assessed application.

Can a whole brand receive one award?

No. An entry concerns a defined product or ingredient. Its award does not cover unrelated products, variants or the organisation as a whole.

Preparing and following your application

Can I save an entry and return later?

Yes. Save a draft in your account and complete the remaining sections before submitting.

What evidence should I provide?

Explain the nutritional purpose, identify the product and connect each material statement to a source. Include composition, intended use, relevant quality records and the limitations of the evidence.

Which files can I upload?

Upload PDF, JPEG or PNG files, each no larger than 10 MB. Name them clearly and identify the version or date in your evidence map.

May I submit confidential information?

Use the private application for confidential evidence. Do not send patient identifiers or other unnecessary personal information. The public record uses a separate factual description.

How long does a review take?

Review time depends on the category, the evidence and any questions raised during assessment. Your account shows the current stage and any information requests. You receive a written decision when assessment is complete.

What happens if reviewers need more information?

You receive a consolidated request in your account. It gives the questions, response date and any recorded pause to the review timetable.

Can I request more time?

Yes. Open the information request and explain the reason and proposed response date. The recorded reply confirms whether the date has changed.

Can I withdraw an application?

Yes, while the entry is under review. Use the withdrawal action in your entry account. Withdrawal does not turn an unassessed entry into an award.

Decisions, certificates and records

How is an award decided?

Two reviewers assess the entry independently against seven mandatory requirements and five weighted criteria. The decision must meet the published threshold and minimum scores.

Does meeting the criteria guarantee an award?

The decision depends on the evidence submitted for the defined product. Entry or eligibility alone does not confer an award.

What if the reviewers disagree?

A further independent review is required where reviewers differ on a mandatory requirement or award eligibility, or their total scores differ by more than 10 points.

Can I appeal?

A procedural appeal can be submitted within 30 calendar days of the decision. Identify the procedural issue and relevant records. Disagreement with a score alone is not an appeal ground.

When can I download the certificate?

After the award record has been checked and published. A separate publication notice confirms when the free certificate and public link are available.

What does an expired record mean?

The permission to use the mark has reached its end date. The register retains the historical decision.

Does an award confirm that a product is suitable for me?

No. The award concerns the assessed evidence and scope. It does not replace individual advice, regulatory authorisation or independent product testing.

Award use and optional items

Must I buy a trophy or labels?

No. Physical items are optional. The decision and free award benefits are unaffected by any purchase.

How long can I use the mark?

Permission lasts 24 calendar months from the decision, subject to the conditions in the award record and any suspension or withdrawal.

Can I put the mark on packaging?

Only within the recorded permission and the rules of the intended market. Request a use check with the proposed artwork and surrounding statement before production.

Can a customer use our ingredient award on its finished product?

No. The ingredient award does not confer an award on a finished product containing it.

What if the formulation or specification changes?

Report the change through your award account before applying the mark to the changed version.

How much do physical items cost?

The quotation sets out the item specification, quantity, destination and total. There is no charge to request a quotation and no obligation to accept it.

Contact and account help

How do I sign in?

Request a secure link for the email address used for your entry. Each link can be used once and expires after 20 minutes.

My sign-in link has expired. What should I do?

Request a new link and use the most recent email. Opening an expired or used link does not delete your saved entry.

How do I report an error in a record?

Send the award reference, the information to correct and the reason. Use the concern form for suspected misuse or an independence issue.

Where should I send private evidence?

Upload it within the application. The general contact form is for enquiries and does not accept evidence attachments.
