Programme responsibilities
ENS administers the awards. Scientific decisions, application administration and optional-item fulfilment have distinct responsibilities.
| Responsibility | Role in the programme |
|---|---|
| Programme oversight | Maintains the rules, criteria, appointments and policy versions. |
| Application coordination | Checks completeness, organises assignments and handles recorded questions. |
| Independent reviewers | Assess the entry and explain findings against the criteria. |
| Decision signatory | Considers the signed reviews, resolves differences and records the final decision. |
| Publication check | Verifies the approved public record and certificate before release. |
| Optional-item fulfilment | Handles quotations, production and delivery without authority over award decisions. |
Matching expertise to the entry
Each accepted entry is assigned to two reviewers with expertise relevant to the product, nutritional purpose and intended users. Specialist applications follow the corresponding population, clinical, ingredient and market requirements.
Reviewers declare relevant interests before receiving the full application. They complete their assessments independently and do not see each other’s draft scores.
Free assessment and optional purchases
Entry, assessment and standard award benefits are free. Order information is kept out of the scientific application. Fulfilment personnel receive only the information needed to handle the requested item.
Purchasing or declining a physical item does not influence eligibility, scoring, timing, the award decision or a procedural appeal.
Interests and accountability
Declarations are considered by a person who is independent of the interest concerned. The outcome can permit the assignment, restrict it or replace the reviewer.
An applicant can raise a concern about an assignment or the handling of a case. A person whose conduct is questioned does not decide that complaint.
Decisions and public records
A written decision identifies the assessment scope and explains the outcome. A published award record shows the recognised product or ingredient, relevant market, decision date and current status.
Corrections, suspension and withdrawal remain traceable. Private evidence and individual scores are not published as a product ranking.
